Cold Laser Therapy

A low-level laser therapy used by physiotherapists and chiropractors to reduce pain, swelling, and support tissue healing

About Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive therapeutic modality used at Avita Health in North Vancouver as part of physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment plans. Cold laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to create a healing response in tissues and to help accelerate the body’s healing processes. It is commonly used to help in the reduction of swelling, pain and spasms, and to assist in the restoring of functionality to an area.

Cold Laser therapy is applied by a Physiotherapist or Chiropractor and is included in your sessions at no extra charge. Each treatment lasts only a few minutes and treatment plans may involve 3 to 5 sessions.

Cold Laser therapy involves applying low-level light to a targeted area in order to bring about a positive therapeutic outcome. The body’s tissues absorb the red and near-infrared light, causing a reaction. The damaged cells have a physiological response which increases intracellular metabolism and results in the promotion of regeneration.

Cold laser therapy may be used to support treatment of the following conditions:

  • Muscle strains
  • Ligament sprains
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Neck pain
  • Low back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Muscle spasms
  • Chronic conditions (ie. Fibromyalgia, chronic back/neck pain)
