Everyone experiences stress, and while we need some stress to function, too much can be harmful.
magine a computer…when it is running one or two, even up to four programs, it can manage just fine. But continually adding tasks will cause the computer to slow down and eventually to crash. We are not so different. Most of us live near the high end of our functioning stress level. Managing multiple roles, being available 24/7, facing financial challenges, dealing with illness, experiencing difficulties in relationships, going back to school…are just a few of the stressors that may be acting on us at any one time.
While we can handle our stresses most of the time…adding even one more stressor, such as losing our job or having a baby, can put us over our limit. Successfully managing your stress requires understanding first, and then effective tools. This is the purpose of our presentation.
What you can expect to take away:
- Identify the different stresses in your life
- Recognize the signs in your body, thoughts and behaviours that tell you your stress level is too high
- Discover which stressors you can change and which you cannot change
- Develop strategies to reduce stress and minimize its effects
- Live a healthier, happier life through applying healthy principles
